A train traverses spring and summer, and it also passes through the most authentic cities, fields and regions in China; the faces of the passengers are the most ordinary faces in China. Two women meet each other on this train every day, but they never converse. At the time of the SARS epidemic, they sit together and look at each other.

JIA Zhang-ke (1970, China) grew up in Fenyang, Shanxi province. He graduated from the film academy in Beijing in 1997. With films like Platform (2000) and Still Life (2006) he became a prominent figure in the film scene, both in China and the rest of the world.

Many of his films have been shown at IFFR, including this short film Ten Years (IFFR 2008) and more recently A Touch of Sin (IFFR 2014). The latter is available in Dutch cinemas now.

Ten Years is part of IFFR presents, a weekly series of short films.
